Why are the shelves so bloody high? Empty

Going into the library, Raven felt as if he was trespassing. Even though he was a reader, it wasn’t for any educational purposes. Well, not for the kind the professors wanted anyways. Looking around he didn’t see anyone he recognized. Since this was his first time in the school library, he wondered if he’d have to ask how they had the books organized. Resigning himself to actually having to ask the librarian, he began to walk towards the desk only to stop and turn and walk into row of shelves that was unoccupied.

Looking at the aisle he was in his eyes went wide. Head whipping around to see if anyone else was watching he returned his attention to the books. Brown eyes scanning the titles he lifted himself on tiptoes trying to read the higher shelves. Frowning, he saw that there was a little space between the bindings of the books and the edge of the shelves. Looking up he gripped the edge just above eye level. His foot quickly followed suit.

Scaling the shelf carefully, he was almost to the top shelf. Balancing himself precariously he looked down then back up at the book. Clinging to the wooden shelf like a leach with both hands he realized he hadn’t thought it through. How was he going to carry the book down? Why were these shelves so bloody tall when first years couldn’t use spells yet to get them down? And where were the ladders?

"Do you need some help there?" Sami found the first year attempting to get a book off the top shelf extremly amusing, although she felt bad for him. Why he couldn't have asked the librarian, she had no idea. A boy's pride sometimes, she rolled her eyes. Oftern beats their common sense to the ground. She looked around and quickly spotted a ladder, hidden behind a bookcase. She dragged it with her, hoping he was still hanging on. She adjusted the ladder so she would be right next to him once she climbed up. She noticed that he had climbed up the shelf all by himself and let out a sigh. These shelves were not meant for climbing puproses, honestly. I hope that shelf doesn't fall, if he manages to get off.

"Grab the book you want and quickly toss it to me. Unless you'd rather have me get it for you," she smirked. The boy probably thought she was raving mad by now but at this point, the only thing she was concerned about was making she he got down safely and didn't tumble down, knocking the shelf down. Just for a little book. She hoped he wasn't one of those Ravenclaws that were overly obsessed with books; Ravenclaws notorious reputation for being book-loving, goody-goodies was already stained enough. She was sure there were much more interesting things for a boy his age to do, like socialize.

Almost losing his grip from being startled, Raven’s head whip around to look down at the girl who’d called up to him. The only thought in his head was, ‘Really?’ Seeing her roll her eyes he felt like being really immature and sticking his tongue out at her or even blowing her a raspberry. And where had she popped out of?

When she left, he thought he was rid of her muttering, “Bloody know it all Ravenclaws.” That was until she came back. He must really have bad luck. And it was only proven when the blasted girl smirked at him. Feeling petulant he retorted, “What if I don’t want to give it to you? And bugger off. No one asked for your help.”

‘Stupid bloody girls,’ Raven thought darkly. Why were they coming out of the woodwork here? And they were older ones too. Think they would know not to judge right away, but noooooo. It was like they weren’t ever a little kid before.

“Besides,” he pointed out. “How am I to get on the ladder if you’re already on it?” Really, a Ravenclaw being dense, who would have thought? Then again, he was a regular Slytherin and Pia wasn’t a regular ‘Puff. So he supposed that the hat might have made a mistake and placed someone in Ravenclaw who didn’t belong there.

Nat skipped up to the library finishing with a cartwheel right outside the doors. Her last visit to the library hadn't been very long and she wanted to have a better look around to see if there was any fun to be had. She weaved in and out of the shelves humming super secret spy music to herself, ducking behind whatever she could to avoid being seen by other students.

Upon turning a corner, she spotted a boy hanging from one of the bookshelves with Sami Criss standing beside him with a ladder. Ladders were so boring and before Natalie knew it, she was rushing over and grabbing his feet to hold him up. "Oh no you don't, Dr. Baron von Melville. I will not let you die like this! You'll come down from there and you'll stand trial for the crimes you've committed, just like every other evil genius on the planet," she growled up at him, casting him as the villain in her little spy fantasy.

Having his feet grabbed caused Raven to cling tighter to the shelf and look down to see who was here now. He actually giggled, giggled at this girl’s antics. Playing along, he grinned then corrected it by putting on mock outrage. “Dastardly bloody hero’s always getting ruining my plans! Now you want to ruin my magnanimous death?”

This girl kind of reminded him of Pia and he grinned at the thought of what it would be like to get the two girls together. That would be interesting and no doubt fun!

Wondering if the girl would continue to play along he first broke character and looked down at her. “Are you good with balance?”

He was wondering if she’d be able to hold him if he let go of the shelf. It would be fun to see how long they could run about the library before getting reported or the librarian coming.

Sami shook her head, "Whatever, I don't have time for Slytherins with no respect," and jumped off the ladder, wincing when she forgot to bend last moment. Some kids just didn't appreciate help these days. Natalie had come to the rescue, again, and it seemed like she'd be there everywhere she went. To be honest, she was getting annoyed at the Hufflepuff blonde; she reminded her way too much of a younger Kyra, back when she was nice and innocent. As much of a pain as Henderson as well, she smirked. Ignoring the rest of their conversation, she fast walked out of the library as quickly as possible. She only stopped to pick up her book from the table on which she had left it on.

Already being in the library, Marie didn't have to look far for some mischief. It looked like a tiny boy was being rude, typical Slytherin, she giggled to herself, before skipping towards them. This was going to be fun, she could feel it.

Although she didn't know any of those that already stood there, it didn't worry the Gryffindor. She was like that, wherever she could some kind of fun, she would be there. "Well well well, if it isn't a Slytherin causing some chaos," she said, smirking.

She wasn't teasing the boy, this was just her way of getting friendly to someone, she hoped he understood that.
