Cass smirks as she hands Bradley the most ostentatious piece of parchment she could find. With frills and everything. Well, ruffles. Well. Not quite sure what they are. This clue sounds much less dangerous, and thinks that Raven will have to use a lot more thought on this one. It almost broke her head when she was sat at home thinking about this. Too many words that were there to confuse her. So she took solace in it.
Good ol' solace.
She doesn't know how Bradley makes it towards the tree without being completely petrified. Cass' nails dig in to the satchel of clues she has around her shoulders. At least he makes it halfway there and a mamping root that kicks Bradley out of the way, spiralling a few feet above Cass' bewildered head.
"Bradley!" she screams, striding up to where he lands. The disorientated toad's eyes bulge and and he lets out a low groan. She picks him up and cradles him: he doesn't like it but then again no-one likes being hit by a bloody big tree root. Cass chucks a large stone onto the parchment before it starts to flap too violently.
"Won't be all in vain, Bradders, I promise."
Cass pats his head, and promises she'll fix him up. If not, the Infirmary seems the best place.
From here, as she paces back every few steps, she tries to see if she can make out the clue from a distance.
The clue reads
Roots ground from the mortar
Simple brews best left for lips
Need but do not want
Take the heavy pill and swallow it
