Deciding he had suffered enough that day, Sydney thought of the brilliant plan of just not showing up to his next lesson. It was his last of the day, and he was sure he could get away with it. Just show up at the Infirmary after a few minutes have gone by, pretend to be sick in front of the medwitch, and you'll have a perfectly good excuse as to why you weren't in class for the very next day. After all, no one, not even a professor, really want in on all the gory details of how much your innards look like troll boogers. No, his plan would definitely work.
Throwing his bookbag haphazardly on the floor of the empty classroom he had found, Sydney made himself comfortable against the wall as he began to wait for his cue to head to the Infirmary. Just as it was time to start heading towards the infirmary, Sydney heard a sound that nearly froze his blood solid. It was footsteps. Footsteps down the very same hallway in which the empty classroom was by. If by any chance the person chanced to open the door to the classroom and peer in, Sydney would be discovered and be in a ton of trouble. This had not been part of his plan. Getting caught and given detention was not in plan either. If his mum caught wind of this, Sydney would be looking forward to a very bad letter; Howlers were not fun little things.
Crossing his fingers and wishing with all his might that his luck wouldn't abandon him then, Sydney sats stiffly so as to not move at all. Making a sound would surely get him caught, and he could not get caught. Oh Merlin...
