Country Manor Empty
PostSubject: Country Manor   Country Manor EmptySun Apr 03, 2011 9:22 pm

Jude walked down the patio steps cautiously. He knew the place was likely well defended, and although his contact had assured him the weakest place was actually the front of the house, Jude wasn't convinced. Multiple times he had already had to dive into a nearby bush or climb stealthily up a tree only to have to extricate himself from it afterwards. He was getting through the labyrinthine garden however, and was almost at the building. He looked around, to make sure there were no guards or anyone who could raise the alarm nearby, before inscribing a glyph into the front door. It was miniature, no one would see it, and that was the plan. In the Glyph was a simple tracking charm. He repeated the tracing of this Glyph onto the back door and windows. He was tempted to infiltrate it to place them inside, but he was told that the family here didn't go by Floo, and never Apparated either. Mudblood Lovers. He thought, disgusted. He needed to make sure he would know when the house was empty. Most amateur criminals thought it was best to sneak in at night. Jude however wasn't an amateur. He double checked that he had placed them on all exits and near as many rooms as possible, feeling slightly fatigued afterwards, before heading back towards his house. He would need his energy for when the family was out of the house. Only thing was, it could be weeks or even months that they would all be away at once. He would have used a distraction to get them out, but they would be suspicious. It wouldn't be worth it.

Two Weeks Later...

Jude was pretty unhappy about the fact he wasn't able to wait any longer, he was told to just make sure he got what they wanted and got it out without being captured, but now they put a time limit on him too? Jude was uneasy about this, he suspected the family would keep a constant vigil after their house. After all, they knew what they had in their possession. Jude wasn't going to take any chances more than he had to under the circumstances, so made certain to double check all his equipment. He didn't need much. His wand and a decoy detonator, along with a useful pouch of powder, would be all he needed for this heist. He double checked their quality as well however, he didn't need a faulty device to explode in his face or detonate and draw attention to himself, rather than for it to be used to keep it away from him. Now he was sure of his equipment. He just needed to hope he could get in and out undetected.

He apparated to somewhere a short distance away from the Estate, while being sure that the sound of Apparation wouldn't alert them. He strode confidently and calmly towards it, making him look like an arrogant person rather than someone who was after a few things from a nearby estate. He made sure no one was close to realise what he was doing, before stepping back into the labyrinth like garden. Jude followed it's twists and curves, making sure to stay out of sight, which, as he expected, was much easier in the daytime when no-body suspected people would attempt to infiltrate the house. Once he was inside, a simple test of the Disillusionment Charm told him the wards against it were no longer present in the building itself. He smirked to himself, obviously the tenets believed no one would be able to get past the peripheral defences, and never bothered to put any more down further in. He took a few steps forward, making sure the silencing charm on his boots had worked, before moving towards the bedrooms.

Jude knew it wasn't always the place people would have their belongings, but it was a good place to start. People tended to keep their most treasured possessions close to them, and even if the object he needed to find wasn't there, he could find a few pieces of jewellery to freelance. He did in fact find a few pieces of interest. An inscribed Sapphire ring, a necklace which looked tacky, but upon closer inspection had some valuable metals in them, and then a couple of the usual pieces he would take. Nothing flashy, but they would fetch a decent price. He had hoped the documents and the item he was after was here, but no avail. He supposed it wouldn't be an easy search anyway.

He continued to search around, scouring the place from top to bottom. It was obscenely easy. He had passed right next to people at times. As long as they weren't in the room he was looting, then they didn't notice a thing.

He worked his way down to the cellars. He supposed it would make sense for it to be here, but he'd acquired plenty of other objects to sell off this way. He went around a corner and through an old worn door to a dingy room. All it took was one glance to notice the ornate and intricately designed chest that looked like it held what he was after. He stepped towards it, before unlatching the heavy clasp and opening the chest. Inside was exactly what he was ordered to get. The stack of documents was there, and so was what he was contracted to get. The sword of Anveri. It was an ancient artifact, and it would fetch an extremely high price. This scheme might give Jude enough to keep him going for a good couple of years on his high expenses, and the other things he found would make a tidy profit.

He heard a clinking and whirled around. A guard stood there silently, looking straight at him. Jude could tell the charm had worn off, and didn't give the guard a chance. He sent a Stunning Charm at the guard, it was pretty weak, but it would distract them. He sprinted towards the exit, the guard raising the alarm. Jude could feel the power of the wards go up around him, but he knew he could still break through. He dashed towards the front door, and plowed right through the gardens this time, not taking the elaborate roots he'd taken the over times. They knew he was here, it wasn't worth the stealth if he could get out quicker. He felt a few small pains on his legs, and a small gash in his left arm. No doubt where a severing Charm or something similar had got him. Thankfully the guards had already gone towards the building before he left, which meant after sprinting past a line of them, he was out. The moment he was out the range of the wards, he spun on his heel and Disapperated back to his own Estate. He needed to tend to his minor injuries and then take the documents and Sword to Edwin.
