Sending a letter

Patrick smiled as he went into the Owlry. He had always loved the look of owls but the smell coming from the ground made it less enjoyable as he thought. He was going to send a quick letter to his father and sister, like he promised.

"Now, who'll help me?" he muttered as he looked at the owls. None of them seemed to want to send his letter. Every time he walked towards one, it would fly away.

Getting annoyed now!

Leighton walked into the owlry, her letter for her aunt tucked into her robe and Alyxander resting on her shoulder. The screech owl was bought buy her Aunt Astoria and named after her deceased brother. It only seemed right that Leighton would name her small, brave little owl after her amazing brother. Leighton was glad she named him that since it fit him so well.

Spotting only another boy in the owlry, Leighton noticed he seemed to be scaring off all the owls. "You know, bringing them a treat usually helps." Leighton said, her voice neither sweet nor vicious. "I'm Leighton Vladimir." She stated, not knowing if he read the Daily Profit and knew about her family's recent death

Turning around, Patrick was surprised to see another person up in the Owlry. Though he really shouldn't have been surprised. It wasn't against the law to send a letter.

"Oh," he said when the girl said that bringing a treat helped. Darn him and not having any treats. "That'll be good to remember next time."

He mentally frowned when the girl introduced herself. The name sounded familiar but he was muggleborn and he didn't know any families with the last name of Vladimir. "It's nice to meet you."

Seeing the only owl he hadn't managed to scare away, Patrick decided to try another approach.

"Hi there," he said in a soothing voice. "Do you want to help me deliver a letter?"

The owl nodded, startling Patrick. But then the owl took off before Patrick could attach the letter.

"Owls are evil," he muttered.

Leighton nodded back. "I might have some." Leighton stated, reaching into the pockets of her robes. Even though she was a Slytherin, she wasn't vicious to people who didn't deserve it. She also didn't stereotype. Her own cousin was a Puff, so they couldn't be that bad. Pulling out the treat, Leighton smirked. "What do you know, I have one." Leighton said, handing the boy the treat.

"Nice to meet you as well..." Leighton trailed off, waiting for the boy to say his name.

Watching the boy try to coax the owl, Leighton's smirk grew. The owl seemed to be messing around with him, causing Leighton to chuckle under her breathe. "That they are." She stated, staring down at Alyx, knowing about him and his trouble causing.
