Time for Food Empty
PostSubject: Time for Food   Time for Food EmptyFri Feb 11, 2011 1:33 am

With Natalie still on his back, Landon opened the door and entered the empty kitchen. No other students or adults were there. All he saw was the basic kitchen stuff and a few house elves roaming around doing some work. He waved at them as best he could and once he was in the kitchen completely, he helped Natalie off his back. He shut the door and then turned back to Natalie. "So all that scientific stuff has made you hungry? What are you in the mood for?" He didn't know what he was in the mood for even though he was getting hungry. Natalie seemed to be the more hungry one so he was going to let her decide first.

"I always make my own food here," Natalie said. "The house elves are busy enough."

"I want..." The elves paid her no mind as she went about the kitchen grabbing this and that; she was there so often that they didn't even object to her doing the cooking anymore. She skipped to the cold storage area. "Ice cream..." She left and went to another part of the kitchen. "And marshmallows," she grabbed a bag, then returned to Landon.

"A very nutritious snack, if I do say so myself," she offered him a spoon, although she didn't know if he wanted to share with her. "It's Butterbeer flavored," she added cheerfully as she tore open the bag of marshmallows and popped a few into her mouth.

Landon nodded. A girl who was considerate of others, nice. That was always a good quality to have. He wasn't a fan of girls who were divas or downright rude. It was refreshing to see someone who cared about others and seemed to be rather polite. This was going to turn out well. When Natalie was back by his side, Landon had an idea. He went and looked around the kitchen poking at things.

When he returned to Natalie's side he had a package of chocolate chip cookies and regular sugar cookies. "If you put the ice cream between two of these and maybe add some marshmallows you'd have an extra nutritious snack. It's optional obviously. I just thought we could add a little more nutrition to our snack." He grinned down at Natalie who was a little shorter than him. "But if we do make sandwiches, we should take a seat."

"Good idea," Natalie hopped up onto the table and sat. "Chairs are stupid," she said.

Opting for the best of both worlds, she snagged a chocolate chip cookie and a sugar cookie to become the "bread" of her sandwich. Using one of the spoons, she took a scooped a large mound of ice cream out of the container and spread it on one of the cookies. She sprinkled some marshmallows on, then smashed the other cookie on top of the concoction.

She took a bite and was delighted when it was just as delicious as it looked. So delighted, in fact, that she hopped off the table and did a little dance. She tried to say something to Landon, but it was impossible to decipher through a mouthful of ice cream. She swallowed, then tried again. "You, sir, are a genius!" she bowed in front of him.

Landon shrugged and joined Natalie on the table. He was actually quite fond of chairs especially big cushion-y comfortable ones but the hard table surface was just going to have to do. It was all in good fun, right? He took two chocolate chip cookies, some ice cream, and a few marshmallows. He made his little sandwich and then took a bite. At first the cold from the ice cream irritated his front two teeth but moments later he was fine. His spoonful of ice cream wasn't nearly as large as Natalie's but he didn't mind that. Too much ice cream would destroy the taste of the marshmallows and the cookies.

When she hopped off the table, Landon watched her amused. It wasn't very ladylike for her to speak with her mouth shut but that was ok with him. It was part of their current activity and he was having fun so he wasn't about to do anything to ruin the fun they were having. Although he was a gentleman, he decided to do something that was less than gentleman-like. He removed the top cookie off of his ice cream sandwich, picked off a marshmallow and tossed it at Natalie with a smirk on his face. "Oops, it slipped." He said to her sarcastically.

Natalie's jaw dropped open in disbelief as the marshmallow soared at her, hitting her in the arm. "I cannot believe you just did that," she said with a deadpan face as if she was mad.

"This. Means. WAR!" she grabbed the bag of marshmallows and dove behind another table, shouting, "Battle stations everyone! We cannot allow this yellow-bellied landlubber to defeat us!" she paused for a moment. "Wait, why do I always go into pirate mode?" she thought aloud.

She grabbed a handful of marshmallows and tossed them at Landon. "Fight back, you coward!" she giggled.

Landon's playful nature was slowly but surely starting to come out. He was a little worried that Natalie would be mad at him but if she was really mad over a little marshmallow she wasn't as laid-back as he thought. Something told him her anger was only an act. Soon enough he was proven right. His eyebrow raised at her actions and he chuckled. "Alright Captain Natalie." He saluted her and went behind his table looking for things to throw at her.

He decided to break cookies in half and throw them. If he threw them without breaking them he could hurt her and really didn't want to. While behind his table, he threw about six cookie halves over to her, peeking over the table. He wiped off the marshmallows that hit him. At least she was throwing something soft at him. It could definitely be worse but hey, it was fun. So why not play along?

Natalie gave a soft yelp as some cookies flew over her head and smacked into the wall behind her, showering her in crumbs. "I feel like I've just been blessed by the cookie fairy or something!" she giggled.

She tossed some more marshmallows and, as they soared across the space between the two tables that had been drafted to act as fortresses, she crept around the one she was hiding behind to launch a sneak attack. When she was a bit closer, she tossed another handful under the table. "Take that!"

Landon was actually glad only the crumbs were only hitting Natalie. He was really scared he was going to hurt her which he wouldn't be happy about. "Cookie fairy is your friend, Natalie." He said to her as he threw a few more cookies in her direction trying to avoid being hit with the marshmallows. By this point, Landon was trying to catch the marshmallows in his mouth. No one said he couldn't eat during the food fight. He did catch a few but missed most of them. This was the most fun he had while trying to eat in his whole life. It was different, but fun.

Natalie took as big a handful of marshmallows as she could and threw them all at Landon at once. She hoped he was thoroughly distracted by the fluffy white rain coming down on him as she put the second part of her plan in motion.

She dashed forward and grabbed the container of ice cream and a spoon. She crouched down, scooped some of the ice cream onto the spoon, and said, "Surrender now, or you'll get it!"

Landon looked up and saw all the white coming down at him and started to try to catch all the marshmallows in his mouth. He got a few here and there but wasn't able to catch as many as he originally wanted. Maybe he could practice at catching marshmallows in his mouth life that. It was a lot of fun doing that. Unfortunately, he didn't prepare himself for what was coming next. When he looked back down, he saw Natalie there with the ice cream and spoon. "I surrender." He dropped his cookies and showed her his bare hands. So maybe he wasn't the most eventful guy but that was his gentleman side coming out.

Natalie laughed and hopped back up onto the table, eating the ice cream on the spoon. "That was fun," she said, looking back at him. "I suppose we should probably clean up..."

She couldn't resist dipping her finger in the ice cream, reaching back, and swiping it across his face, all the while with a cheeky grin on her face.

"Right, now we can clean up," she said.

Landon stood back up in front of Natalie and put the back of cookies on the table by Natalie's side. "Maybe we should start to clean up..." He told her while looking around at the mess they created. Moments later he had a little bit of ice cream on his cheek. "Thanks Natalie, I appreciate it." He told her sarcastically. Once he had a napkin, he wiped his cheek. "Any idea how we should start to clean up?" He wasn't used to cleaning since his mother and sister usually did that. His dad usually did the cooking with the house elves so he was really confused. Maybe she could have an idea of what to do.

"You're welcome!" Natalie replied cheerily as she wiped the remaining ice cream off her finger on a napkin. "I'm not really sure..." she'd never made an actual mess in the kitchens before.

She hopped off the table and went over to one of the elves. She hated to be a bother, but it was the only way she'd find cleaning supplies. "Excuse me, Mopsy, where can we get a broom and stuff?" she asked the elf kindly.

"It is not a worry, Miss Natalie," the elf snapped its fingers and the mess was gone.

She wrinkled her nose. She would have preferred to do it herself, but it was already done. "So much for us doing the cleaning," she said, returning to Landon's side. "What now?"

Landon nodded and smiled at Natalie. She was a fun girl. Definitely unique but that was good. He wasn't complaining. She was fun and entertaining. He continued to look around at the mess they had created wondering if they had any brooms around. His mom and sister always used things like brooms to clean up the house. Maybe Hogwarts had them unless messes were cleaned up always magically.

When Natalie spoke to the house elf, he smiled politely at it feeling awkward asking for help. his headstrong nature made it so he wanted to do everything independently. Once the mess was gone, he smiled gratefully at the little house elf. "Thanks." He muttered still feeling a little awkward. Well at least the house elf saved them some time. Now to figure out what they could do since their wasn't any cleaning up to do. "Well since I'm really new I haven't had any time to explore and see any interesting places. Do you have any ideas?" He felt bad not contributing but he was really clueless.

Natalie grinned when Landon tossed the question back at her. She knew just the place and what she could show him. "But of course, one second."

She went back to the house elf, Mopsy, and said thank you again, then returned to Landon and grabbed him by the hand. "Come on!" she tugged at his arm and took off, dashing to the place she wanted to show him.

Landon raised his eyebrow at Natalie's grin feeling a little suspicious. Was she planning on getting him into trouble or planning to throw stuff at him and torture him? His mind was running wild and he wasn't sure what to think. It could turn out good or it could turn out really badly. One could only hope for a positive outcome. He allowed her to pull him off and waved to the house elf once more not wanting to be rude.
