Badgering Ninja Thief of the Night Empty
PostSubject: Badgering Ninja Thief of the Night   Badgering Ninja Thief of the Night EmptySat Jun 28, 2014 2:04 am

It was way late and past curfew but hardly a problem to Randall. Clad in black clothing and wearing padded black shoes, he also wore a ski mask while carrying a black sack. Yep, the youth had some uncouth intention and the target was the set of hourglasses full of gems. Randall had been planning this kind of heist for some time now and managed to gather whatever tools he could get his hands on. A small nail file that someone carelessly dropped in the common room, a sewing needle, a fork, a deformed key from the streets of Hogsmeade, a paperclip, and a couple of thin metal picks used in cleaning teeth were in a side pouch on his belt. He had brought them with him just in case the Unlocking Charm didn't work on those hourglasses. Having some notes on how to pick locks and cut small holes in the glass, Randall hoped they would get him to succeed.

Randall was glad that he was in Hufflepuff because the common room is close to the Great Hall. Had he been in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw, then it would've been a huge hassle of sneaking down all those floors to get to the Great Hall. The close proximity meant less of a hassle if it came to evading prefects and professors on the patrol. Randall could just picture himself as the main character of this really popular Muggle video game that involved espionage where stealth made the difference between victory and defeat.

The common room was empty and dark. Randall took out his wand before softly chanting the incantation for the Silencing Spell, targeting his shoes. He then left the Common Room, equipped for his heist.

Once he was out of the common room, Randall had to admit that everyone in his house slept deeply, making it easy to get by. The only threats were the prefects and professors. He could ambush and incapacitate some of the prefects should they be shorter or equal to his height without too much difficulty. But otherwise, he would have to be very careful around larger threats although he did have a bag containing a hand-towel that was soaked in Sleeping Potion. It could act like a chloroform if applied correctly. Should it come to spells, he knew he'd be at a disadvantage on offense tactics unless he could get them with the Conjunctivitis Curse off the bat. Still, he hoped it wouldn't have to come to him being detected, let alone getting into a fight. So far, there was no sign to indicate that he had been seen or followed as far as he could tell.

As he continued to the Great Hall, Randall hid in the shadows as the moonlight shined through the windows. It was only when the clouds blocked the light that he continued on his way. Reaching and slowly opening the door to the Great Hall, Randall glanced around before slipping inside, making sure to shut the doors silently. The dim light shining into the Great Hall provided some illumination through the darkness as Randall silently made his way to the hourglasses on the other side. Slinking into the shadows near them, Randall studied the hourglass next to him. It sure had a lock alright and Randall took out his wand before murmuring softly with full concentration. "Finite Incantatem."

It didn't seem like there was any effect. Randall hoped it worked as he brought out the nail file, intending to use it in the process of picking the lock. Either steal some rubies, sapphires, and diamonds or paint them all green. Maybe he should help himself to some emeralds too if he were to be a thief.

"Here goes." Randall muttered to himself as he brought the nail file up to the hourglass's lock, hoping that the Stop Magic Charm nullified the magical security around it.
